Yes vodka can be used for things other than dealing with a bad day or an aid to help make your family more tolerable during the holidays. You maybe wondering "why would you use vodka for anything besides getting social?". Vodka is easily available, effective for many uses and has less harsh chemicals than many items you use at home.
Check out some of these alternative uses for my mother's favorite drink.
- Smelly feet? Wash your feet in vodka to get rid of odor.
- For ink and grass stains dip a cloth in vodka, rub spot and rinse thoroughly. Got a lipstick stain? Blot stain with vodka then wash with your normal laundry. Someone drink too much vodka and puke everywhere? Spray the area with the last of the vodka, scrub the area and then let it dry.
- To keep flowers fresh add 2 teaspoons of vodka, one teaspoon of sugar to a vase of water then stir well. Snip 1 inch off each stem and place the flower in the mix.
- Make your home shine with vodka. Moisten a soft clean cloth with vodka and polish your chrome and glass fixtures.
- Make your hair shine! Add one jigger of vodka to a 12oz bottle of shampoo to add shine to your hair.
- Pour one fourth cup of vodka in a bowl (or glass). Place in crystal jewelry and let it soak for 5-10 minutes. Rinse off then pat dry. This will NOT work for porous stones such as opals and pearls.
- For an odorless freshener, mix 1 part vodka with 3 parts water in a spray bottle. Spray smell spot and let dry.
- Run out of astringent? Pour a little vodka on a cotton ball then apply to your skin to help tighten pores.
- Make your own mouthwash by mixing about one half vodka and one half of water together with about 5 drops of cinnamon oil. Be sure to shake before using and don't swallow!
- Make a safer pesticide killer with vodka. Add 4 cups of water, 4 teaspoons of dish washing liquid and 4 teaspoons of vodka in a large spray bottle. Shake well and spray affected areas.
