As you may have noticed, last Friday’s deals of the week was written by a non-native Bostonian. So by way of a counterpoint allow me to talk a little about how the Yankees and their payroll do not fit in with the BeFrugal philosophy.
As researched by the prolific Joe Posnanski, between 2002 and 2009 the Yankees spent $432 million dollars more than any other team in baseball.

While they achieved their goal in the end, in that same time period six other teams have won it all by spending their money much more wisely. A far more frugal approach to payroll management.
