For our next contest, we're giving away a copy of The Frugal Foodie Cookbook: Waste-Not Recipes for the Wise Cook every day next week!
The Frugal Foodie Cookbook by Lara Starr & Lynette Shirk presents recipes and strategies for creating inexpensive meals for various situations. Shirk has cooked at top restaurants and Starr is a baker, blogger, and cook with a calculator. Together, their combined skills produce delectable dishes and expert advice.
Chapters divide the book into different types of meals for different times of day. Within each chapter, the authors provide instructions for preparing both classic and creative dishes, as well as a "Cents-able Solutions" section with tips & tricks to guide your journey to becoming a frugal foodie.
The mixture of frugal strategies and healthy recipes that don't sacrifice flavor make this a valuable addition to anyone's kitchen.
How to Enter
There are a few different ways to enter our Book a Day giveaway:

We will draw our first winner on Monday, but all entries will count for each of the drawings.

Fine print
Eligibility: Must be 18 or older to enter. Void where prohibited by law.
Winner selection: The winner will be selected randomly each afternoon of next week from all entries made before noon of that date.
Claiming prize: We will send and email or a direct message in Twitter to the winner requesting a mailing address to which we will send the book.
I shop at the 99 cent store to save money on food. They have organic items and name brands!
I always look for coupons to help save on the cost of any products.
To save money on meals, I cook a lot with beans, rice and pasta. And always buy in bulk for food that doesn't go bad!
The best tip I have outside of coupons is to buy/cook certain foods in bulk, freeze, and use as needed. I'll often whip up a huge vat of something on Sunday, but have it for lunch the whole week and no need to spend money at work.
My trick is to shop on the perimeter of the store. If you avoid the aisles you miss expensive and unhealthy convenience foods.
I ALWAYS write up a list for meals for the whole week, this includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner with snacks opted in! This helps with my couponing too!
Saving money for food is easy. Saving money for merchandise is difficult , believe me! I constantly save my money from my paychecks to balance out my rent bills and social life "bills." To do this , I would always 3/5 of the money I get over $2,000. I would then collect coupons that I get in the mail and save them up until I can buy an item that I want , for 3/4 of the original price. I also deposit money into my savings account regularly to ensure that I don't spend all of my money recklessly. Whenever I go grocery shopping , I always aim for the cheaper based products-this method is used by a lot of customers. Also , I would buy food for 3 days , not a full week or a day. *Just a bit of tip that I constantly use*
I add TVP to my ground meat for meatballs or meatloaf.

I also make all my bread, english muffins, and rolls this saves tons of money. I also don't buy cream ofs, but make own version.
I moved to WA from Alaska-no dollar stores in Alaska so I sure went crazy here buying dishwasher soap, household cleaners, etc. Love the dollar stores for saving money.

Some men seem to think that every meal must have meat. They need to get over that! I save some cash by making at least one meal a week meatless. Also, breakfast for dinner is an inexpensive meal, and kids really love it (parents too!) And, as others have said, coupons, coupons, coupons.
