Sales tax is an expense that many of us just ignore or automatically factor into our purchases. \u00a0If you live in Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire or Oregon you don't think of sales tax since there isn't any.<\/p>\n

Several states across the country are offering sales tax holidays to help ease the sales tax burden so people can purchase what they need. The timing is great for those doing back to school shopping or for people starting to make their holiday gift stockpile. \u00a0Here is a list of states\u00a0participating\u00a0in a tax holiday this year.<\/p>\n

Alabama<\/strong><\/p>\n

Alabama will have it's tax holiday August 5-7. Up to $100 worth of clothes, up to $750 for computers, $50 for school supplies and $30 for books. More information can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Arkansas<\/strong><\/p>\n

August 6th & 7th will be tax free for up to $100 worth of clothes and all school supplies. More information can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Connecticut<\/strong><\/p>\n

August 21st through the 27th Connecticut will cover taxes \u00a0on clothing and footwear purchases up to $300.<\/p>\n

Florida<\/strong><\/p>\n

Between August 12th and 14th Florida will cover taxes on books, clothing and footwear purchases under $50 and school supply purchases under $10.\u00a0More information can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Iowa<\/strong><\/p>\n

August 5th & 6th will be tax free on clothing and footwear purchases under $100 per item. More information can be found here.<\/a><\/p>\n

Louisiana<\/strong><\/p>\n

Between August 5th & 6th most consumer purchases will be tax free. You can find more detailed information here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Maryland<\/strong><\/p>\n

August 13th through 19th clothing and footwear purchases under $100 will be tax free. This excludes accessories.<\/p>\n

Massachusetts<\/strong><\/p>\n

August 13th & 14th, anything under $2,500 will be tax free.<\/p>\n

Missouri<\/strong><\/p>\n

August 5th-7th, \u00a0clothing under $100 (per item) and school supplies under $50 (per item) will be tax free. Also computers and equipment under $3,500 will be tax free as well. More information can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

New Mexico<\/strong><\/p>\n

Like several states, New Mexico will be offering purchases tax free August 5th till the 7th. Clothing and footwear under $100 each, school supplies under $15 each, computers under $1000 and computer equipment under $500 will be tax free. More information can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

North Carolina<\/strong><\/p>\n

August 6-8 North Carolina will be having some tax free shopping. Clothing, footwear and school supplies under $100 per item, school instructional materials less than $300 per item, sports & recreation equipment of less than $50 per item, computers less than $3500 and computer supplies of less than $250 per item will be exempt from normal sales tax. Oklahoma<\/strong><\/p>\n

August 5th till the 7th will be tax free on clothing and footwear under $100 per item. More information can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

South Carolina<\/strong><\/p>\n

August 5-7 there will be no sales tax on school supplies, clothing, computers and computer software. During the month of October there will be no sales tax on qualified Energy Star items for your home that cost less than $2,500. \u00a0You can find more information here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tennessee<\/strong><\/p>\n

Another state will be offering some tax free shopping August 5-7! Clothing, school and art supplies under $100 per item and computers under $1500 will be tax free. You can find more information here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Texas<\/strong><\/p>\n

August 19-21 clothing, footwear and backpacks under $100 will be tax free. More information can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Virginia<\/strong><\/p>\n

August 5-7 will be a tax free weekend for back to school shopper in\u00a0Virginia! School supplies less than $20 per item and clothing and footwear $100 or less per item will be tax free. From October 7th until October 10th Energy Star & WaterSense personal home items priced at $2500 or less will be tax free. More information can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
