"wd40"

In 1953, a small company called Rocket Chemical Company decided to create rust prevention solvents for the aerospace industry. After many failed attempts the team at Rocket Chemical Company got it right the 40th time. The original formula of WD-40 (water displacement #40) is still in use today.

The original use for WD-40 was to eliminate water, prevent rust and corrosion in aviation and aerospace electrical systems. Now, WD-40 is a household name and has become a pop culture reference. See the movie Gran Torino? The main character Walt said "Take these three items, some WD-40, a vice grip, and a roll of duct tape. Any man worth his salt can fix almost any problem with this stuff alone."

I agree with Walt. A can of WD-40 can be used for over 2,000 tasks. Here is a list of just a few things WD-40 is good for:

  1. Spray WD-40 on the distributor cap, it will displace the moisture and allow the car to start.

  2. Untangles jewelry chains.

  3. Removes crayon from walls, refrigerators, toys and more.

  4. Shines vinyl sneakers.

  5. Removes gum from things like stroller wheels and the bottom of your shoe.

  6. Protects silver from tarnishing.

  7. Prevents water spots on glass shower doors.

  8. Softens leather.

  9. Dissolves glue.

  10. Cleans wire rims on glasses.

  11. Dissolves residue on white boards.

  12. Removes lipstick stains.

  13. Removes ink from jeans.

  14. Frees stuck Lego blocks.

  15. Lubricates tracks in sticking home windows and makes them

easier to open.

I know these are just a few things that the all mighty WD-40 is good for. What's your favorite alternative use for WD-40?
