How about a staycation this summer?<\/p>\n<p>A staycation is a frugal alternative\u00a0to the standard vacation. \u00a0Staycations are great for those who are short on cash or time but still desire a break from the norm. \u00a0Those with small children staying at home can elevate some of the stress that comes along with travel. \u00a0For a great introduction to taking a staycation, take a look at this <a title=\"interview\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.consumerreports.org\/money\/2009\/05\/tips-for-the-best-staycation-ever.html\" target=\"_blank\">interview<\/a> featuring Matt Wixon the author of <em><a title=\"The Great American Staycation\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Great-American-Staycation-Vacation-Family\/dp\/1605506567\" target=\"_blank\">The Great American Staycation<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Camping, going to a sports game,\u00a0visiting\u00a0\u00a0historical sites are just a few ideas of things to do on your staycation. <em>SuperEco<\/em> has a great list of <a title=\"staycation ideas\" href=\"http:\/\/www.supereco.com\/news\/2009\/05\/08\/37-fresh-staycation-ideas\/\" target=\"_blank\">staycation ideas<\/a> to help get your planning started. \u00a0To fully enjoy your time off here are a few suggestions.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Plan a start and end date. \u00a0 Just like a \"real\" vacation your stayaction should have a start date and end date. \u00a0If you don't do this you may run the risk of sitting on the couch watching <em>Yo Gabba Gabba<\/em> and <em>All My Children<\/em> while you shove ice cream in your mouth then BAM your back to\u00a0the real world!<\/li>\n<li>Fill your day with activities. \u00a0Plan each day of fun activities so you don't end up staying home all day figuring out what to do.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure your ready to \"leave\". \u00a0You know all the stuff you would do before a normal vacation? Well do it now too. \u00a0Do all of your normal chores such as grocery shopping, bills, laundry etc. prior to going on your staycation.<\/li>\n<li>Do NOT do your chores.
