When I hear the phrase "over worked and underpaid" I think of the people working for nonprofits who bust their butts in hopes to make the world a better place. Many social justice organizations simply don't have the resources needed to make their message be heard. This is were the Taproot Foundation comes in.
The Taproot Foundation is a nonprofit organization that brings together talented business people and organizations working to improve our society. Taproot's mission "is to lead, mobilize and engage professionals in pro bono services that drives social change".
By working locally Taproot is slowly expanding the effect of pro bono services. Currently Taproot is focusing efforts within five major metropolitan areas: Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco Bay and Washington D.C.
When I hear "pro bono" I often think of lawyers and doctors working with people who are in need of their services. The Taproot Foundation can use anyone with existing business skills in fields such as marketing, IT, and management. You can find out more about opportunities here.
The Taproot Foundation is a great organization that needs people with the skills that many of us have. A friend of mine told me about the organization and she loves helping out. Has anyone done any pro bono work? Anybody work with Taproot?
